Privacy Policy

Hylito shortens long videos into one shorter video of a length you choose. This policy explains what information we handle and why. We keep it short because we try to collect as little as possible.

Information we handle

• Your videos. When you shorten a video, the file is uploaded to our servers so we can create your shortened version. Your browser also reads the video's length before upload so we can check your chosen duration.
• Payment information. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, which acts as the seller of record. You enter your card or other payment details on Dodo's checkout page, not on ours, and we never see or store them. We receive order details from Dodo, such as your email address, the amount paid, and payment status.
• Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may record standard request data such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and to keep the site running. We also keep a log of each request to the service for up to 30 days, to fix problems and prevent abuse. It records which action was requested, whether it succeeded, how long it took, your account ID if you are logged in, and a one-way hash of your IP address rather than the address itself. It does not record your videos, passwords, or the content of what you submit.

• Account information. Accounts are optional. If you create one with email, we store your email address and a securely hashed password with our authentication provider, Supabase. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email and name (and we still store the account with Supabase). We use essential cookies to keep you logged in.

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

How we use information

• To create and deliver the shortened video you ask for.
• To process payments, prevent fraud and abuse, and provide support.
• To maintain, secure, and improve the service.
• To meet legal obligations.

Your videos and AI

To find the most important moments, we extract your video's audio and send it to OpenAI to be transcribed, then send the resulting transcript text to OpenAI to rate which parts matter most. We do not sell your videos, and we do not use them to train AI models. Under OpenAI's API terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models by default.

We delete the uploaded original and all intermediate files as soon as processing finishes. If you don't have an account, we delete your shortened video 24 hours after it is created.

If you have an account, your shortened videos are saved in your dashboard until you delete them, so you can watch and download them later. Free accounts keep 1 saved video, and plans keep more. Any video beyond your storage allowance is deleted after 24 hours, and videos you haven't paid for are deleted automatically after 7 days. You can delete any saved video at any time from your dashboard.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run Hylito:

• Dodo Payments, for payments, taxes, and receipts.
• Supabase, for account sign-up and login.
• Google, only if you choose to sign in with your Google account.
• Cloudflare, for storing your shortened videos until they are deleted.
• Hosting and AI processing providers, for the purposes described above.
• Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect rights and safety.

We do not sell your personal information.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to delete any video you have uploaded. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, such as objecting to certain processing or lodging a complaint with your data protection authority. Contact us below to make a request.

You can delete your account yourself from Settings. This permanently deletes your saved videos and your login and cancels any subscription. Payment records are kept by our payment provider, Dodo Payments, for as long as the law requires.

Children

Hylito is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

International transfers

Our providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Hylito develops, for example when video processing launches. We will change the date at the top when we do.
